Neo Sports CIC Policy overview
Neo Sports CIC is committed to tackling all forms of discrimination and inequality in both the workplace and the services Neo Sports CIC provides. This policy sets out how it will promote equal opportunity and seek to prevent all forms of unlawful or unfair discrimination, harassment, and victimisation.
General Information
The aim of the policy is to:
- Work towards the elimination of all forms of discrimination
- Create a positive culture throughout Neo Sports CIC where diversity, inclusion, and respect are core values and at the centre of all our activities
- Ensure Nehemiah Browne and Doreen Sinclair staff, and volunteers are engaged with the development and implementation of this policy
- Encourage positive action to overcome disadvantage and discrimination
- Ensure the highest possible standards are achieved in the delivery of our services to beneficiaries and in our workplace practices
- Ensure equality, diversity, and inclusion is promoted throughout our work, both internally and externally
Our policy’s purpose
This policy’s purpose is to:
1. Provide equality, fairness, and respect for all, irrespective of role and/or responsibilities
2. Not unlawfully discriminate because of the Equality Act 2010 protected characteristics of:
- age
- disability
- gender reassignment
- marriage and civil partnership
- pregnancy and maternity
- race (including colour, nationality, and ethnic or national origin)
- religion or belief
- sex
- sexual orientation
3. Oppose and avoid all forms of unlawful discrimination. This includes:
- pay and benefits
- terms and conditions of employment
- dealing with grievances and discipline
- dismissal
- redundancy
- leave for parents
- requests for flexible working
- selection for employment, promotion, training, or other developmental opportunities

1. Encouraging equality, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace
2. Creating a culture free of bullying, harassment, victimisation, and unlawful discrimination, promoting dignity and respect for all, and where individual differences and the contributions of all Nehemiah Browne and Doreen Sinclair’s staff, volunteers, and service users are recognised and valued.
This commitment includes training Nehemiah & Doreen’s staff, and volunteers about their rights and responsibilities under the equality, diversity, and inclusion policy. Responsibilities include Nehemiah and Doreen staff, volunteers, and service users conducting themselves to help the organisation provide equal opportunities, and prevent bullying, harassment, victimisation, and unlawful discrimination.
All Nehemiah and Doreen staff, volunteers, and service users should understand they, as well as Neo Sports CIC, can be held liable for acts of bullying, harassment, victimisation, and unlawful discrimination.
3. Take seriously complaints of bullying, harassment, victimisation, and unlawful discrimination by Nehemiah and Doreen staff, volunteers, service users, the public and any other stakeholders during Neo Sports CIC work activities.
Such acts will be dealt with as misconduct under Neo Sports CIC grievance and/or disciplinary procedures, and appropriate action will be taken.
Further, sexual harassment may amount to both an employment rights matter and a criminal matter, such as in sexual assault allegations. In addition, harassment under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 – which is not limited to circumstances where harassment relates to a protected characteristic – is a criminal offence.
4. Make opportunities for training, development, and progress available to all Nehemiah and Doreen staff, and volunteers, who will be helped and encouraged to develop their full potential, so their talents and resources can be fully utilised to maximise the efficiency of Neo Sports CIC.
5. Make decisions on Nehemiah and Doreens staff, and volunteers based on merit (apart from in any necessary and limited exemptions and exceptions allowed under the Equality Act).
6. Review employment, enrolment, and induction practices and procedures when necessary to ensure fairness, and update them and the equality, diversity, and inclusion policy to take account of changes in the law.
7. Monitor the make-up of Neo Sports CIC regarding information such as age, sex, ethnic background, sexual orientation, religion or belief, and disability in encouraging equality, diversity, and inclusion, and in meeting the aims and commitments set out in the equality, diversity, and inclusion policy.
Monitoring will also include assessing how the equality, diversity, and inclusion policy, and any supporting action plan, are working in practice, reviewing them annually, taking action to address any issues, where required / necessary.

The equality, diversity, and inclusion policy is fully supported by Neo Sports senior management.
Upon induction and/or enrolment, all Nehemiah and Doreen staff, volunteers, and service users are required to follow Neo Sports CIC the equality, diversity, and inclusion policy.
